Stile Antico’s dozen voices sing with polished refinement a mixture of sophisticated Latin and more populist vernacular material on this disc.

Their ability to rivet attention is immediately obvious in an introspective and raptly controlled account of the Missa’s opening Kyrie, while the poignant Agnus Dei highlights the group’s lithe expressivity and impeccable tuning.

Each of the Lobo works further showcases Stile Antico’s sublime artistry, the singers’ silken voices rising and falling like new-fallen snow.

Robert White’s Lamentations is home territory for Stile Antico, and, as would be expected, the performance was flawless.

What a sound! Radiant, absolutely focused, extremely rich in overtones and earthy at the same time, it effortlessly filled the every corner of St. Mark’s Church.

As imaginatively conceived and exquisitely sung as one would expect… Superb performances that combine ensemble warmth with just enough grit to intensify the emotional edge. 

Stile Antico were on their usual excellent form… ensemble and blend… were perfect.
