Stile Antico is delighted to confirm the dates for its March 2014 US tour. The group gives six performances of its acclaimed programme “The Phoenix Rising” in Boston, New York, Cincinnati, Jackson, MI, St Louis and, in its first Florida appearance, Indiatlantic. Full concerts listings are available here.
Last night’s concert at the University of New Hampshire brought to an end our ten-day visit to the US. We celebrated with some excellent wines courtesy of Bill Kempster at UNH, and then travelled down to Boston this morning for our flight home. After three happy hours spent eating lobster and riding the water taxi to the airport, we’re now... continued
Stile Antico’s newest blogger puts the world to rights…
“Well hello there y’all! I am nearly at the end of my grand tour of the States, so thought it was about time I let you know how I am getting on. As you probably know, I was lucky enough to win the recent World’s Bonniest Baby competition, and the prize was a trip to America, where would... continued
Eleanor sends the following dispatch from the back of her getaway vehicle…
“Like the previous day, today involved a lot of driving, and, apart from the small matter of a concert, not an awful lot more. As we headed from Cleveland to Pittsburgh with a few post-concert beers and snacks in... continued
Becky’s blog takes a novel form!
“Since today’s chief objective was to cover 460 miles on the road between Vermont and Erie, our stopover point on the way to Cleveland, there is not much to report. In order to avoid a dull travelogue, I decided to write this blog as a series of haiku poems. One carload made an unscripted visit to Niagara falls this... continued
Emma enjoyed our second day in glorious Vermont…
“Early risers this morning might have spotted some unusual fauna in the Vermont hills: a group of wild turkey, hotly pursued through the mist and frost by a lesser-spotted Andrew clad in summery shorts and grasping his camera. Glancing up from his coffee cup, James was heard to wonder whether it... continued
Helen clearly enjoyed our first day in beautiful Vermont!
“After Monday night’s torrential rain, we were all pleased to wake up to clear skies yesterday morning and a beautiful crisp autumn day. Perfect weather for a walk in the woods! After a wander round St Johnsbury, most of which seemed to be closed for the morning, seven and a half of us set out... continued
Ben didn’t have the best of mornings…
“Some bad things happened today. We knocked another hole in our carbon credentials with hundreds more miles driven by our convoy; some of us (okay, just me) succumbed to a late-morning burger at the Golden Arches. One car in the fleet (okay, yes, mine) put too much... continued
Back in April, we had to leave Kate behind. This time, she’s brought company…
“Anyone who thinks touring is glamorous has never spent their evening holed up in the bathroom typing a tour blog and waiting for a takeaway pizza to arrive. Odd behaviour? To be fair, the rest of the group are currently enjoying an all-expenses-paid dinner at a fine... continued
Today’s blog is brought to you by a love-lorn Jim…
“Every so often, a day lasts a peculiar length of time; Saturday 5th October, for example, began twenty-seven hours ago and has still two to run. Touring musicians must learn to take this oddity resultant of crossing longitudinal lines in their strides, forcing themselves to stay awake whilst... continued
As usual, we’ll be taking two different programmes with us on tour to the US. Alongside Treasures of the Renaissance, which we performed and wrote about back in April (see A Tasting Menu), we’ll be singing our newest programme, The Phoenix Rising, which shares its title and repertoire with our most recent recording on Harmonia Mundi.
