2016-7 Bursary Recipients Announced

21 October, 2016

Stile Antico is delighted to announce that the recipients of its 2016-7 Young Singer Bursaries are Sacha Fullerton and Caroline Halls.

The bursaries are designed to give emerging singers a significant opportunity to gain experience within a world-class vocal consort, to engage with the particular challenges and rewards of working without a conductor, and to make invaluable contacts within the wider profession. Having been chosen from a very strong field of applicants, Sacha and Caroline will participate in Stile Antico rehearsals and will be mentored by members of the ensemble. Thanks to the generosity of the Stile Antico Foundation, they will also receive £500 each towards singing lessons and other development costs.

On hearing the news, mezzo-soprano Sacha (left), who is currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, wrote “I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded a Young Singer bursary by Stile Antico, and am grateful for the opportunity to experience a style of choral performance that is quite new to me. I very much look forward to meeting the group and learning as much as possible from them in the coming year”. Caroline (right), a soprano who sang at The Queen’s College, Oxford, before moving to London to further her studies at KCL, responded “I’m very pleased to be one of the two recipients of this award. In terms of singing, two of my most favourite things are early music and small-ensemble work, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy working with this group very much!”

We are hugely looking forward to welcoming these exciting young singers into the Stile Antico family over the coming year.
