Tage Alter Musik Herne

Herz-Jesu-Kirche, Herne, Germany

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the festival, Stile Antico rewinds exactly four centuries to explore the momentous period of English history between 1576, when the composer Thomas Weelkes was born, and 1626, which saw the coronation of the ill-starred King Charles I. Along the way we explore the glittering reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and her successor King James I, and mark four hundred years since the death of John Dowland. Above all, our programme showcases English music at its most confident, extrovert and inventive: a feast for the ears, worthy to grace any celebration.
