Stile Antico is delighted to return to the Summer School at beautiful Gresham’s School in Norfolk.

The group will teach two courses:

Vocal Ensembles

Looking back over twenty years performing as a group, Stile Antico shines a spotlight on some of their favourite pieces. Participants will be divided into small ensembles (working collaboratively, without a conductor) to explore masterpieces from throughout the Renaissance. Repertoire includes intimate Tudor motets; dense, lush Flemish masterpieces; and upbeat madrigals. This course is designed for singers with some experience of choral singing, keen to improve ensemble skills and get to know some wonderful repertoire!

Sing with Stile

Come and explore large-scale motets music from Renaissance Italy! Singing alongside members of Stile, participants will have the opportunity to sing some of the finest works of the sixteenth and seventeenth century. To celebrate 500 years since the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the course will focus on the works of the undisputed master of the stile antico: Exploring his legacy, we will then move north, to the great centres of Florence, Mantua and Venice, with splendid polychoral works by the Gabrielis, and ground-breaking masterpieces by the wonderful Claudio Monteverdi.
