Stile Antico

Our programme charts a course from twilight to sunrise, seductive and unsettling in equal measure. Taverner’s mighty Ave Dei patris filia stands at the end of a delicious sequence of sacred music, chansons and madrigals by English and Continental composers including Byrd, Lassus and Tallis, and Nico Muhly’s Gentle Sleep, a haunting setting of words by Shakespeare, written especially for the twelve voices of Stile Antico.

This is a one-hour concert without interval.
