Stile Antico has considerable experience in leading workshops, and its members are
accomplished trainers, teachers and motivators. The group is regularly invited to coach at Dartington
International Summer School, and has recently worked with the Southampton Philharmonic Choir, the Border Marches
Early Music Forum, and at the Grassington and Chipping Campden festivals.
Just to say that the workshop today was brilliant. Best I've been to and really wonderful. Congratulations to all... (2008 Participant)
No two Stile Antico workshops are the same, as the format and repertoire are tailored to the requirements of each occasion. However, a typical full-day session might begin with an introduction to the group, and a brief performance, before a physical and vocal warm-up. The participants then form a number of small groups, each of which is coached by one or more members of Stile Antico, rotated regularly throughout the day. There may also be an opportunity for interested participants to sing one-per-part, with Stile Antico supplying any missing lines. Whilst the day may conclude with an informal concert, our aim is not to produce finely-crafted performances, but rather to provide an insight into a remarkable repertoire, encouraging participants to respond imaginatively to text and music, and to each other's ideas and voices.
Previous workshops have focused on repertoire from our concert programmes (particularly effective if the workshop is associated with a Stile Antico performance), on madrigals, or on music from specific publications. However, we are able to accommodate - or suggest - a wide range of options, as required. For more information and enquiries, please contact workshops@stileantico.co.uk.
