The calm before the storm

“Before the hard work of the tour kicks off, some of us thought it would be fun to use the opportunity of being Stateside to check out some of the spectacular scenery in New England. So as our fellow singers were dodging the snow showers in London whilst doing their last-minute packing, eight of us have spent the last couple of days exploring Provincetown, on the very tip of Cape Cod.
“After a long flight from the UK and the inevitable queue at US immigration, two of our number, James and Ben, amazingly managed to stay awake long enough for the two hour drive to Provincetown, arriving at 00:30 on Wednesday morning, or 05:30 UK time! The weather has been fantastic – temperatures certainly on the ‘bracing’ side, but clear blue skies both days. It’s been fabulous to pick up a bit of sun after the last few months in the UK.
“Provincetown is a beautiful little place, full of classic clapboard houses and idyllic sandy beaches. We’d managed to turn up a week before the holiday season starts, which meant that unfortunately quite a few places weren’t open, but on the plus side we did have the beaches all to ourselves!
“We managed a few long walks and runs along the coastline in the vain attempt to spot a whale, but had to be content with the odd seal on this occasion.
“It’s been a very relaxing start to the trip. We’re all now safely arrived in Boston and looking forward to getting down to business with our first concert in Cambridge this evening!”
