Around the world in twelve days
9 October, 2018
Stile Antico is about to embark on its most ambitious tour yet, geographically speaking – a complete trip around the world, with concerts in the US and East Asia.
On Thursday we fly to Denver, Colorado, where we perform on Friday evening in St John’s Cathedral. Concerts follow in St Mary the Virgin, NYC, and Lafayette College, Easton, before we cross the international date line on a sixteen-hour flight to Taipei, and then head onward to Busan in South Korea, as guests of the Busan Choral Festival. We perform in Busan on 17th October, Daegu on 18th October, and then head via Seoul to Macau for two concerts. Our tour concludes with a concert at Hong Kong City Hall on 22nd October.
The travel may seem a little daunting, but we’re really looking forward to this trip; it’s always a pleasure to perform in the US, and we’ve been trying for several years now to find a way to visit East Asia!
We’ll be singing three different programmes, with a few small variations: Queen of Muses, based around the mesmerizing figure of Queen Elizabeth I, Victoria’s Tenebrae Responsories, and, in Hong Kong, With the Voice of Melody, our mixed programme of many of our favourite pieces, including Huw Watkins’ The Phoenix and the Turtle.
As ever, we’ll be keeping you updated on our progress via Facebook, Twitter, and blogs on our website. We hope you enjoy hearing from us along the way!
