On Saturday 9 March, following our concert in Newcastle Cathedral the evening before, members of Stile Antico will be leading a singing workshop for young people aged 16 to 22 (or still in full-time education). The workshop will include physical and vocal warm-ups and rounds, and will introduce participants to choral music by the greatest Renaissance composers such as Tallis, Byrd and Palestrina.
We will aim to engage participants through vocal ensemble exercises and collaborative music-making, as well as focussing on the context and meaning behind the music. Participants will be encouraged to work together equally as a team, listening to and responding to each other in a supportive environment. Dr Katherine Butler from Northumbria University will also provide some brief introductions to the history and music of the Renaissance period.
Tickets are free. To register please fill in this form by 16 February. If you have any queries please contact: Katherine.butler@northumbria.ac.uk
